Well, our Spring Break plans changed and we found ourselves in a little coastal town in northwestern Oregon called Oceanside. We had to cut our vacation week short so we decided to do a smaller version of our originally planned road trip. We drove up to Oceanside where we had reserved a cozy "artist's studio" in a motel that sits on the top of a cliff and has a magnificent view of the Pacific Ocean. We were there in the peak of whale watching season and we were able to see their spouts, backs and tails as they migrated north to Alaska for the summer. It was awesome!

We also attended our friend Alisa's wedding that Saturday and got to see Kirstin, Andy & Laura at the wedding. Afterward we went out to dinner with Andy & Laura and we drove out to Oceanside to one of the restaurants that the wedding invitation had recommended. On our way there, we noticed several signs on people's front yards that said "Boycott the Anchor!" We were trying to figure out what the signs meant, but didn't have any ideas. We drove into Oceanside, and as we parked in front of the restaurant, we looked up at the sign and said "'The Anchor' - now why does that sound so familiar?" We didn't realize until we were already inside that it must be "The Anchor" that the signs were urging us to boycott! We found out later that the restaurant had been purchased by new owners who added a third story to the building, thus blocking off the view of the people living behind them - yikes!

Our vacation was incredible and we spent all of Sunday & Monday driving Highway 101 down the Oregon coast. We even found a place that let us take our Jeep out onto the beach - I'm including some pictures of us driving into the waves! It was an awesome trip and we're so glad we went. Now we're planning our Arizona trip for after Ethan graduates in June!
